I begin with a concept I wish to express and match a canvas to it. In order that the finished painting illustrate the feeling on which I am focusing, I highlight certain details ---- sometimes through the use of color, sometimes by taking the painting into the third dimension. I see no reason that painting and sculpture should be divided.
My canvases are digitally manipulated by my computer and I, enabling me to print an ink canvas. Usually they are photographs I’ve taken or sometimes a scan I’ve arranged --- most commonly of natural elements but occasionally man-made objects make their way in. I admire the work of the impressionists particularly the Russian impressionists. I am a fan of Guilermo Kuitka and the photography and paintings of Denis Hooper. The subject matter of my paintings tends to be a riddle; usually one I am puzzling over at the time. As I look around my New Mexico home I attempt to reconcile the world we live in with the past as it has been expressed by  the artists who precede me ---- regardless of the media they chose to work with. Most of my paintings take about 2 years to complete.

I am blessed to be surrounded by great artists here in my Taos home. Each outdoes the other in depicting the beauty of the Taos mountains and high desert landscape. I don't stand a chance against their technical abilities but I nevertheless am attempting here to express my gratitude at being a guest here on this lovely planet. Thank you to those who have supported me in my efforts.
